The slide board loads the inside of your leg the same way a skating stride does. Every push builds the muscles that create speed, so the work you put in on the board shows up in your first three steps on the ice.

The end stops are angled, so your foot is caught at the right angle as you push off. Thick padding takes the load out of the push and heavy rubber plates keep the board still even when you work hard.
